2023 Volvo SUV lineup improvements and overview

2023 will be a year of significant changes and improvements for Volvo. On the Recharge models, one-pedal driving is now available on all trim levels, and upgraded powertrains with improved efficiency are also available. We've outlined the changes made to each Volvo SUV for 2023 below.

2023 Volvo XC40

The XC40 will be equipped with new mild-hybrid drivetrains in 2023. The entry-leve B4 powertrain produces 194 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, while the B5 produces 247 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. With the new mild-hybrid system, the XC40 will offer more performance and improved efficiency in 2023. A Google-based infotainment system now includes Google Maps navigation, voice control, and over-the-air updates. The USB-A ports have been replaced with two USB-C ports at the front.

2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge

All-electric XC40 Recharge models get new front bumpers, grilles, LED headlights, and new exterior colors and wheels, along with all the tech changes made to the XC40.

2023 Volvo C40 Recharge

There are new interior material options in this year's C40 Recharge, but the black roof is no longer available. With the latest Volvo electric powertrain and the latest technology, the C40 didn't need many changes.

2023 Volvo XC60

A year ago, the Volvo XC60 became the first Volvo SUV with a completely electric powertrain line when it was introduced with the B5 and B6 engines. With the exception of new paint colors and interior materials, the 2023 XC60 is largely unchanged.

2023 Volvo XC60 Recharge

The Volvo XC60 Recharge 2023 is powered by a more powerful electric motor. A larger battery allows the XC60 Recharge to travel nearly 60 kilometers on all-electric power. With this improvement, the XC60 Recharge boasts much better fuel economy, while its owner can commute most of the time on electric power alone, again significantly improving fuel economy.

2023 Volvo XC90

2023 Volvo XC90s will feature a B5 and B6 powertrain with 247 and 295 horsepower, respectively while torque is rated at 258 pound-feet for the B5 and 310 pound-feet for the B6. These engines are not only more powerful, but also more efficient. There are also two USB-C ports, an air purifying system, and shift-by-wire transmission included, along with a new Google-based infotainment system.

2023 Volvo XC90 Recharge

Compared to the previous plug-in hybrid XC90 T8, the 2023 Volvo XC90 Recharge has a larger battery, which provides nearly twice the range. Just like the XC60 Recharge, you should be able to get to work and back without using a single drop of fuel.
